About SLU's websites

Last changed: 12 September 2019

The SLU websites consist of the external web (www.slu.se), the staff web (https://internt.slu.se) and the student web (https://student.slu.se). All departments and other units have their own websites at www.slu.se.

You navigate SLU's websites by using the menu below the header area, or by using the buttons and links on the start page. The websites for staff and students respectively, can be accessed through the links at the top of the page. You can always see where in the site structure the current page is located by checking the breadcrumb trail at the top of each page, below the menu bar.

Browsers and accessibility

We endeavour to make the websites accessible for everyone, regardless of what device you are using – computer, phone or tablet. For the best results, we recommend a modern browser such as Chrome or Internet Explorer. We also strive to follow the guidelines for accessible web sites (WCAG 2.0, level AA).

Use of scripts

The SLU websites use Javascript to improve the user experience, e.g. for basic animations. All important functionality should work even if Javascript is not enabled.

Who is responsible for the website?

The Division of Communication has the overall responsibility for content, structure and design of the SLU websites. The Division of Educational Affairs manages the SLU student web. Each administrative unit, faculty, department, collaborative centre etc. is responsible for maintaining their own pages. Each page on the site should have information about who to contact in case of questions, as well as the date when the page was last updated.

Web pages on activities linked to SLU that are not part of the university website, such as those of collaborative centres, may have a different design and be managed differently.

Use of cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on the visitor's computer that make it possible to trace what a visitor to the site does. According to the 2011 Act on Electronic Communication, everyone who visits a website with cookies must be informed that the site uses cookies, what the cookies are used for and how to opt out of cookies.

Some parts of the SLU websites use cookies to give the visitor access to extra functionality, such as order forms. We also use cookies to gather statistics on how visitors use the website. No personal, identifiable data about users such as e-mail or name are stored.

You can always set up your browser to avoid storing cookies, or to display a message when a page contains cookies. However, this may mean that some functionality will not be available.

The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, which monitors electronic communications in Sweden, has more information about cookies on their website www.pts.se.

SLU uses Google Analytics to analyse the visitors' behaviour at the web site. This means that GA collects and analyses data from our web site. We have the function Advertising Features active. You can control which information that is shared from your device when visiting or interacting with our site. Read more at the link:

The websites are archived twice a year

Full copies of our websites are made in the beginning of the year and in the late summer.

Processing of personal data

SLU processes personal data collected from our websites. The personal data controller for our web sites is the Privacy and Data Protection Function.

SLU will process personal data if you e.g. apply for a course or programme, register for a conference organised by SLU, apply for a vacant post or contact SLU for another reason. SLU will store this information in order to manage and follow up your application.

Visitors to the SLU website do not have the right to freely download and reuse text or images from the website. If you wish to get in touch with one of our photographers, or if you wish to buy the right to use images or text from our websites, please contact the Division of Communication's web editors.

News articles and press material published on the SLU websites may be quoted and reused as long as the source is indicated. They may not be used commercially without prior authorisation, or in a way that may harm the university. The website design may not be copied and used for other purposes.
