Do you have a written assignment or an oral presentation coming up? Whether it is a literature review, a lab report, your thesis or an abstract for a conference, you may need support and feedback.

The Centre for Academic Language provides support for students preparing a written or oral presentation, in Swedish or English. Pay us a visit during our drop-in hours, or make an appointment with a language tutor. You will find instructions for making appointments at the different campuses below.

We can help you with

  • Getting started, overcoming "writer's block" or "speech fright"
  • A work plan
  • Language and style
  • Structure and outline
  • Abstract technique
  • Opportunity to practice and get feedback on your oral presentation skills
  • Study technique

What we cannot do is help you choose content, or proofread your text. Our support is intended to serve as an aid to self-help. You can also make an appointment with a tutor when you start planning your text or your oral presentation, before you have a text to discuss. If you need special support, for example due to dyslexia or a neuropsychiatric disability, you can apply for learning support.

Drop-in

If you only want to ask a short question or two, you're welcome during our drop-in hours. Hours depend on which campus you are at:

  • Include any instructions you have received for the assignment.
  • Describe what kind of help you want.
  • Each session is 45 minutes long.
  • During the session, you discuss parts of your text together with the tutor.
