As a new student at SLU there are a few things you need to keep in mind prior to your course start in order for your studies to start in the best possible way.

1. Prepare for your arrival

We invite you to the SLU's orientation programme and roll call.

During the first week you will register as a student at SLU. The schedule for your classes will be published on your programme page three weeks before the semester starts.

2. Information about residence permits

For information on residence permits, please visit the Migration Board's website.

3. Accommodation

Once you have been accepted as a student at SLU, it is time to think about accommodation options. Finding an appropriate place to live can be a difficult, competitive and time-consuming process. 

SLU will only guarantee accommodation to exchange students and fee-paying students for the duration of their studies.

4. Find your schedules

The schedules should be published at least 4 weeks before the course starts.

There are different ways to find your schedule:

If you are admitted to a programme

1. Start by finding your programme on the progamme page.
2. Open your programme and choose course schedule.
3. Open the page for you first course/courses and choose time table.

If you are admitted to a freestanding course

1. Start by finding your course on the course search page.
2. Open to the course page and choose time table.

If you are already registered on the course

1. Log in to the Student Web homepage
2. Under the heading "My courses", open the course you want to read more about.
3. Choose time table.

You'll find contact information to the course leaders on the course page.

5. Find your way to SLU

Here you can find maps that will help you to find your way to the campus you will be study at:
-Alnarp
-Skinnskatteberg
-Umeå
-Uppsala (Ultuna)

6. Open your IT account

Click here for information about how you can activate your student computer account.

This account will enable you to log onto university computers, visit the student web, use library resources, and access your university e-mail account.

The university will use this e-mail account to inform or contact you, so it is important that you log in frequently.

Note that you cannot get access to your IT account until you have arrived at SLU.

7. Register for your first course

You can register for your first course at My studies from the Student web start page.

To be able to do the registration you need to have activated your student IT account.

If you have problems and can´t register on your course/courses at "My studies" we will help you with the registration when you are here at SLU.

8. Pick up your access card

All students should receive an access card. The card will give you access to SLU:s facilities, computer labs and printers. You can pick up your access card two weeks after registration. More information about the access cards.

9. Disabilities?

If you have any disabilities and need pedagogic or other kind of support, please vissit the web page study with disabilities.
